Buddy is one of the most successful and renowned cake artists in the United States and star of the hit TLC reality show Cake Boss, which chronicles Buddy’s over-arching desire to achieve his late father’s dream of making Carlo’s Bake Shop a household name with or without the help of his family.
Using his father’s recipes, Buddy took Carlo’s Bakery to new heights, even creating a reality TV show on TLC based on the bakery and its staff, called Cake Boss.
At an early age, Buddy Valastro showed that he was a natural by displaying his amazing talent for baking and cake decorating. Aside from that passion, he loved spending quality time with his father as his apprentice. Countless hours were spent in the bakery where Buddy’s father, a master baker, taught him all his old world secrets of baking.
After his father’s death, Buddy took over the family bakery and today has exceeded his father’s wildest dreams and made Carlos Bakery a household name.
In his 10,000 square foot state of the art facility, Buddy and his staff turn out thousands of wedding cakes, specialty cakes, and pastries weekly. His award winning designs have been featured numerous times in different bridal and baking magazines.
In 2010, Buddy Valastro’s book, Cake Boss: Stories and Recipes from Mia Famiglia, which is based on the series, was released. Published by Free Press in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Carlo’s Bake Shop, the book features the history and stories of Valastro’s family and the bake shop, along with recipes.
His second book, Baking with the Cake Boss: 100 of Buddy’s Best Recipes and Decorating Secrets, is a cook book, also published by Free Press, released November 1st, 2011 and featuring Valastro’s cake, pastry and decorating recipes.
The success of Cake Boss has led to a spin-off competition series hosted by Valastro, Next Great Baker, in which people compete to win a top cash prize, other valuable prizes, and an apprenticeship at Carlo’s Bakery.
